This is a somewhat difficult question to answer because of the way that Lotus Notes security works.

The following are general descriptions of security within Lotus Notes:

Contact Us security involves encryption. The only way a person receiving an encrypted message would be by having the key created by the sender of the message that would allow you to read the message. The key in effect functions as a password.

There a few other types of security:

1. Server level security In order to access a database on a Lotus Notes server, a user must first gain access to the server. To do this, the user must have a UserID file.

2. Data base level security Every database has an access control level that determines who can access a database and what changes they are allowed to make to that database if any. There is also an Encryption option that encrypts the database and allows only certain people to decrypt it.

3. Document level security Documents also have an access control level which determines who can read the document and what changes they can make to the document if any.

4. Field level security A designer or author can restrict reading on part of a document by enabling encryption for a field.

I believe that the level of security you seek is available with Lotus Notes but not always by the usage of a password in the traditional sense. Lotus Notes restricts access to data by allowing only specified individuals to access the data. If you tried to access a database or document that you are not authorized to access, you couldn't do it.

What I meant to say regarding Contact Us security was this: The only way a person receiving an encrypted message could read that message would be by having the key created by the sender of the message that would allow the receiver of the message to decrypt and read it. This is similar to using a password.
