When I was originally set up, my email address was configured so it was 8 characters, which meant the last letter of my last name was truncated. This causes quite a lot of confusion, and I would like to change that so it is my full name. I have tried going into the location document of my personal address book and changing my mail/username there, as well as in the administrative tools and editing my person document. I restarted the server to see if that would affect the changes, but the mail still is rejected, saying that the mail.nsf for the new user name is not valid. Is it possible to change only my user name for email purposes only? Thank you.

I found the instructions for changing a user name in the help area of Lotus notes. This is the path I followed to find information regarding your problem. For legal reasons, I do not want to copy the instructions and I don't want to paraphrase the instructions for the sake of accuracy.

From here, you have the choice of changing your user name using Notes mail or without using Notes mail.

The instructions here are what I believe you are looking for to solve your problem. They specifically address the issue of changing your user name and how it can be done.
