Mercy Can Wait (1999)
You see a man standing there, something to say
His voice echoes, you can't hear
And your friends say, look away
And your friends manage to avoid his gaze
Mercy can wait... mercy can wait
You make contact with those wretched eyes
Yet, somehow compassion escapes you
Poster between his hands, head low, words held high
You're guilty of staring, but not of caring
Mercy can wait... mercy can wait
Eyes of an angel, glass in her hand
Kneeling in the bathroom stall
Her fingers bled as she etched in cursive
Her soul on the bathroom wall
I tried to look away, but I was too afraid
Somewhere beyond the shadow of trees
Where it's safe to ignore the tears and the pleas
We pray to the god of hypocrisy
Mercy can wait because we're down on our knees
It is there, you won't find me
Maybe you... but you won't find me
