Our Tree
by Paul Chamberlain
12-24-97

Our tree is not filled so much with ornaments,
As what they mean to me.
Some mark good years,
Though others, like needles, shed tears.
Childhood remembrances and sentiments
Weigh the branches down,
Like septors on the soul.

Some things don't mean so much, anymore,
Though other matters, more.
True, some things never change.
Smiles and tears, amidst so many years,
Somehow each tree seems the same.
