The Letter
by Paul Chamberlain
1-23-98

With the wanton lust of desire, I awaited,
The letter I pined, and longed for,
From one whom I searched and satiated,
The urge, and the need, to know more.

For, in the twilight of one evening,
Upon the stars where I gazed, dreaming,
An enchanted charm fell,
With reflected hopes, and prayers to tell,
That I was not alone.

A lover at some garden gate,
Shares these hope and prayers, which mate,
Over the convoluted happiness,
Crying on the distance,
Which navigates the night to day,
Dissolving any difference.
