I have been writing for three years now. I write poetry, short stories, songs, and am trying to write a novel.

Stranger
by Conrad Miles
8-17-99

I say: "I am this", and you say: "So am I".
We simply look at each other, then move on.
I hear you say: "I like this", so I say: "Me too".
Again, we give each other that look of knowing.
I tell you: "Wow, this Is so weird, this Is strange!",
but you just say: "I know, It’s freaking me out".
This time, I get a better look at your face,
and I see Into your eyes, reading your soul, and you.
"I’m a writer" I turn and say: "So am I!".
You just smile and ask me what I write.
So I tell, everything, I just like to write.
Again, you smile, and I see Into your face.
Into your heart I see, your love and hope.
I pull myself away, saying this Is too unreal.
How can this be, a total stranger, so close?
She seems my sister, or my female twin.
We talk, tell each other us, and the other.
Someone says something, I do not remember,
but It goes along a line not dared I cross.
Match made In heaven, maybe you two will get married.
No, this could not be true, life knows better
than playing a trick on my eyes like this.
A person such as this, so much like me,
so much different, yet so beautiful,
does not just sit next to you, and overhear.
That’s like, opening a box at Christmas
and whatever you dream of, Is there.
In my life, In my book, In truth,
It does not happen that way, I know.
Only when does my life smooth out,
does something come along and shake It up.
Like a ball, after the snow has settled.
A dream, like this, does not come true,
for If It did, then why so late, why now?
Once my life has made Its way out
Into something I love and enjoy, like never before,
why does the sun set this Idea
on the land so green and wide that connects us
so out of the blue, out of nowhere?
How did I loose track of her, to let her,
to let her do this wicked trick of life on me?
So, tell me, will you at least be my friend,
total stranger that I know without knowing?
